For the multitude of students who work supportive leaning material alongside lectures are an integral part of studying. Paper document and pdfs are soon to be a thing of the past at the Technikum Wien. More and more learning materials are available on the Internet-Platform in the form of eLearning courses. The creation of the courses has been taking place internally over the past year with the authoring tool Dynamic PowerTrainer. With a campus licence, Technikum Wien has access to an unlimited number of licences for the creation of courses and exams. For the administration the Dynamic Media’s Learning Management System can be used which allows for the administration of learning and courses as well as the comprehensive overview of tests and exams, with its simple graphic interface. Primarily technically orientated courses for electonics are currently being developed. In the mid – to long- term, all programmes of study are to be catered for by individually tailored courses.

For the winter semester 2006/07, computer supported testing (eTesting) will now be introduced in the framework of applications to the University of Applied Sciences. Applicants will have a simple self-registration after which they will sit an entrance exam in which their strengths and interests will be identified.
The application process is made up of an eLearning Test for maths, logical thinking, English and a personality test. The result of the application process can be given immediately after the end of the test for the chosen programme of study. After this there is a personal interview with the director of studies. Students who wish to start the third semester must additionally demonstrate their relevant knowledge of the subject in a test.

Above all, students who also work get a very flexible solution with the software which is independent of location, whereby they can recap study materials and test their knowledge in chapter using self evaluation. With the help of this software, learning materials can be distributed to all students easily and quickly in a didactically appropriate form. A further clear advantage by the choice of Dynamic PowerTrainer was the simple creation of learning materials for our lecturers (the ability to program is not required). The entrance tests with the Learning Management System adapted for us save us time, unnecessary stress and last but not least personnel costs. The main criteria for the choice of the fitting eLearning Tools were user friendliness, flexible course assignment and the service of the provider."
